:-) Yes, shared IRQs should be okay for PCI devices. Of course, the operative word is "should." A TRAP008 definitely points to an IRQ conflict, and it has been my experience that this is when something has left an interrupt hot following a reboot or some other access (the opening system sound from the desktop, perhaps).
I had a brief discussion about TRAP 8's with Scott in Austin in 2002, and this was his insight into the issue (that was when Andy and I were discussing TRAP 8's upon reboot on the A20m and the T20, when coming out of Windows 2000 and into OS/2.

Lewis,
FWIW, when I was trying to get UniAud to work on my T60, part of a
thread when I asked about how to deal with all IRQs being defaulted to
'11' and there was this response:

shared irqs is ok
So, maybe it is not productive to investigate IRQs? Personally, I have
no clue! As I'm sure you've figured out, PC hardware is a mystery to
me... :-(

This is true enough, and I should perhaps uninstall the XWLAN widget >from the xCenter and try that, however, considering the number of times that the MMOS2 modules failed to load during bootup, I do really suspect an issue with the sound such as an IRQ conflict.
