the physical differences between a G and GL version is that the G has 4mb ram and the GL
has 16mb. The firmware in the G is VxWorks and the firmware in the L is Linux. The GL will
work better in a heavy use environment.

Beware that for safety issues, you should first flash with the mini- verison of DD-Wrt
which will bypass any size restrictions for firmware, and then with the full or specific
version you want (there are special versions for VOIP and VPN users). While I use VOIP I
don't use the VOIP version, its not required.

Some earlier models had 32mb ram. When using DD-Wrt, the amount of memory is important
when you are running P2P applications and need lots of ports open or you have specialized
scripting running or logging events or have lots of users. I use a lot of P2P so, the 16mb
ram is important. Here's the Memory Status of the unit as I write this:

Memory
Total Available 13.8 MB / 16.0 MB
Free 1.0 MB / 13.8 MB
Used 12.8 MB / 13.8 MB
Buffers 1.6 MB / 12.8 MB
Cached 3.9 MB / 12.8 MB
Active 3.8 MB / 12.8 MB
Inactive 1.8 MB / 12.8 MB
