Hi...

I looked in the *.vmx file and found this:

scsi0:0.present = "TRUE"
scsi0:0.fileName = "eCS 2.vmdk"
scsi0.present = "TRUE"
scsi0.virtualDev = "buslogic"
buslogic.noDriver = "FALSE"

OK, that's a problem in the conversion program.
I'm going to ask VMWare support about it. The licenses my old boss bought ought to buy him something! I'll send them all the files zipped up.

Just checking to see if you happened to make any headway with this, Steve.
Not really.  I asked VMWare if they wanted the files, they said they didn't need them, and explained that the SCSI drives were virtual devices and do not need ( nor would they benefit from ) real SCSI drivers.  When I really thought about it, that made perfect sense.

Indeed. Virtualization is sometimes elusive to grasp, particularly when thinking of mapping to physical devices.
Eventually, after WAY too many failed attempts at installing, and WAY too much time wasted waiting for the ISA snooper to finish, I threw in the towel.
LOL! Been there; done that. Better luck next time around. ;-)

I spent some time trying to get eCS to install under XEN on openSuSE 11.1. Yech. As I didn;t try any other OS, I'm not sure whther the failure was on the part of XEN to properly boot eCS *or* simply something broken in my XEN configuration (which might lead to the same result with *any* OS). One day, when I'm waiting for something to finish, instead of watching paint dry, I'll probably have another go at it.

Cheers.
